Position Overview: The Construction Accountant is responsible for providing accounting support to a construction business. This includes financial statement preparation, budgeting and forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll processing. In addition, the Construction Accountant will monitor contracts and compliance requirements, create and review financial reports, and recommend strategies to improve the organizations financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review financial statements and budgets, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
Develop and monitor internal control procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and standards
Analyze financial data and trends, and recommend strategies to improve financial performance
Monitor contract performance and compliance requirements
Ensure monthly close activities are accurately and timely completed
Record and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Process payroll and review benefit allocations
Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accruals and closing entries
Perform reconciliations and other financial analysis projects as needed
Support audits and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Experience working in the construction industry preferred
Proven knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office Suite
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to meet tight deadlines and multitask efficiently
